What Exactly Is A “Commercial Vehicle”?

A “commercial vehicle” is a vehicle used in the normal course of business and/or for the transportation of various commercial goods.  Examples include eighteen-wheeler tractor trailers, tanker trucks, delivery vehicles, and other large freight trucks.  Commercial vehicles are often larger and more powerful than typical passenger vehicles and typically require a commercial driver’s license to operate.  Some businesses use standard pickup trucks for their day-to-day activities and while these automobiles may not require commercial driver’s license to operate they are typically considered “commercial vehicles” for insurance and litigation purposes.
