Kyle Custer was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas, and developed an interest in advocacy, writing, and the law at an early age. A gifted writer and accomplished advocate, Kyle has built his legal career around careful preparation, persuasive communication, and a commitment to helping people navigate some of the most difficult and consequential moments of their lives.
Kyle attended Drake University, where he graduated magna cum laude with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Writing and History and a minor in Political Science. During his undergraduate studies, he earned repeated recognition on the Dean’s List, studied abroad in Egypt, and became a prominent member of Drake’s Mock Trial team. His talent for courtroom advocacy was evident early: at the 2011 Bearcat Invitational Mock Trial Tournament, Kyle received the Outstanding Attorney Award.
Following college, Kyle earned his Juris Doctorate (Law Degree) from the University of Iowa College of Law. While there he continued to distinguish himself as an advocate, taking first place overall and receiving the Best Advocate Award in the law school’s 2014 Arbitration Competition. Kyle also served as a staff writer for the Journal of Gender, Race & Justice and strengthened his litigation skills through appellate advocacy, trial advocacy, and hands-on work as an intern with the Iowa Public Defender’s Office. His experience reviewing cold cases, working with indigent defendants, and confronting the complicated relationship between social issues and the law reinforced his belief that the legal system must protect the vulnerable and provide a meaningful remedy to those who have been injured or wronged.
After law school, Kyle served as a prosecutor in three Kansas jurisdictions: the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office, the Finney County Attorney’s Office, and the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office. During his time as an assistant district and county attorney, he managed substantial criminal caseloads, prepared and tried jury cases, argued motions, conducted preliminary hearings, handled sentencings and probation-violation proceedings, and evaluated matters ranging from traffic and misdemeanor offenses to felony prosecutions. He also handled juvenile offender and emergency custodial and parental hearings.
Kyle’s experience as a prosecutor gives him valuable insight into how criminal cases are investigated, evaluated, negotiated, and tried. He understands how the government builds a case, where weaknesses may exist, and how preparation and strategic judgment can shape the outcome. Just as importantly, his time in public service taught him that every file represents a real person whose freedom, family, livelihood, and future may be at stake.
Kyle later broadened his legal experience through family-law litigation, class-action settlement analysis, and other civil litigation. In those roles, he managed active caseloads, analyzed medical records and complex claim submissions, prepared petitions, motions, briefs, and other court filings, argued contested matters, appeared at every stage of litigation through trial, and worked directly with clients to ensure that their concerns were heard and their interests effectively represented. This wide-ranging experience sharpened his ability to master detailed records, identify the facts that matter most, and explain complicated legal issues with clarity.

White, Kyle draws on his courtroom experience and broad litigation background to protect individuals facing criminal charges and to help accident/injury victims pursue justice and receive the financial compensation they deserve. Outside the practice of law, Kyle enjoys reading, writing fiction, competing in trivia contests, practicing Krav Maga, and cheering for his favorite NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
